Manjaro announces Orange Pi Neo pricing. It's shockingly affordable.
This morning Manjaro announced the pricing for the OrangePi Neo and the prices are shockingly affordable.
According to the thread on the Manjaro forum, quote:
CPU | Storage | RAM | Price |
---|---|---|---|
7840u | 512 GB | 16 GB | $450 / 3699 CNY |
8840u | 512 GB | 32 GB | $550 / 4499 CNY |
There are other mixed and matched models including upgraded storage up to 1TB but when I converted the Yuan value to dollars they didn’t seem to match up with the announced prices.
In my conversation with Phillip Muller, Manjaro’s project lead, I was told that Valve has the Neo in-hand and they’re testing it.
I was also told that Manjaro is working on supporting Valve’s recently announced SteamOS manager utility. This will allow Steam to initiate BIOS and other firmware updates as well as GPU clock management, TDP management, storage device maintenance tasks, and external storage formatting.
All-in-all, though, the NEO is shaping up to be a very interesting Linux gaming handheld.
